Alpheus has contracts to operate the water and wastewater assets of a number of diary sites throughout the UK, operating assets as varied as Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) plant, water softening, Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant and Activated Sludge plant (AS), providing both treatment of raw borehole water and wastewater.
Client: Leading UK Dairy Company Business: Processing and packaging of milk and cream for major retailers. Contract: 5-year asset purchase and management contract including an innovative waste minimisation programme, working in partnership with the site.
Influent: 320 Megalitres per year of process effluent, largely CIP generated but including some surface water from process areas. Effluent: During the first 4-months of the contract, Alpheus optimised the treatment process and reduced the trade effluent charge rate from a 3-month average of 76.7p/m3 to 61.9p/m3. Value Added: The process and commercial risk of wastewater treatment is transferred to Alpheus and the existing asset value converted to cash. This value is further enhanced through a site-wide waste minimisation programme, managed by Alpheus in partnership with the Client’s production staff. The combination of process optimisation, effective management systems (including telemetry) and leveraging of awg’s purchasing power provides Alpheus with a suitable operating margin, whilst reducing the Client’s overall wastewater costs. |
