Alpheus Environmental was contracted in 2004 to maintain the performance of the RO water treatment plant at Ratcliffe Power Station.
The system pre-treats river water prior to entry to the ion exchange plant, for use in the station’s boilers. The RO plant enables a higher quality of water to be produced using a lower chemical input than had previously been possible. Based on a thin film composite membrane, Reverse Osmosis (RO) units provide exceptional water filtration, removing almost all dissolved materials. With an effective pore size of less than 50 Angstrom, the system can be at risk of blockage from dirt, bacteria and other contaminants. Maintenance cleaning, using a portable RO cleaning rig, ensures continuous high performance and eliminates the risk of contamination build up.Alpheus Environmental Ltd specialises in waste minimisation, water management and recycling. It is accredited to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996. For further information and general waste management advice, please contact Samantha Wallace on (01234) 686100. |
